Who is collecting client data?

Design Shed Architecture Limited. 

 

Method for obtaining data?

This information is mostly collected directly from the client by competing a ‘New Enquiry Form’. Upon client request, this information can also be obtained by your chosen representative (i.e. Project manager or planning consultant etc.).

 

Purpose for collection of client data:

This information is gathered to enable an initial meeting and to provide a fee proposal. Only the necessary data is collected to enable us to provide our architectural service and carry out the role set out in the fee proposal / contract.

 

The ways your data will be used:

Typically this includes emails, letters, a project brief and on drawings (electronically). 

 

Under GDPR we are required to have a lawful ground to process any personal data. Two of the six lawful grounds for managing data which typically cover the data handling of an architecture practice are ‘operating a contract’ and ‘legitimate interests’. Clients of Design Shed Architecture will expect that their data is processed for the delivery of a project.

 

How long is your data held?

The relevant client details which are collected when first contact is made and through the project process, are retained to the end of the limitation period (6 or 12 years post practical completion depending up the contract). This is in line with RIBA guidance and is adopted for all clients.

 

With whom is the data shared?

Client details are shared with external consultants, subcontractors and organisations as required for us to deliver our scope of services. This includes (among others) surveyors, structural engineers, building control firms, building firms and local planning authorities. Clients will be made aware that we are sharing their data, and in some instances written consent will be sought.

 

How is client data stored? 

Personal data is held securely, protected against unauthorised or illegal use, accidental loss, destruction or damage. The information we hold on you is stored electronically on a password protected hard drive.

 

Complaints:
